White after Labor Day?

There’s a lot out there right now about authenticity and being your authentic self. Brene’ Brown has written several books about it, starting with Daring Greatly. Dare we be authentic? Jen Sincero says You are A Badass. Two books I love, with good advice, but what does it mean to be authentic, or to be a badass?

I think it means being brave enough to be true to yourself. Being who you are, and confident in the amazing self that is you. The brilliant, savvy, creative, compassionate, caring, goofball who makes mistakes, says the wrong things, or doesn’t take a shower.

Stop comparing yourself to others. They are not YOU. You are a gift. Love yourself. Nothing would be the same if you didn’t exist.

Stop apologizing. You don’t have to say sorry for how you laugh, how you dress, how you fix your hair, how you speak. You don’t have to be sorry for being yourself. Do it fearlessly! It’s time to accept yourself – this is who you are going to spend the rest of your life with, so start loving your sarcasm, your awkwardness, your weird sense of style, your hair, your ten (or more) extra pounds, your unique sense of humor, your everything. Life is so much easier when you can simply be happy with you.

Refuse to disappoint yourself. Be positive and look for the good in every situation. Do what you love. Wear the white shoes, or the white bikini. Life is too short to waste your time doing anything else. You have a badass superpower. Authenticity. Being YOU.
